Celebrating International Women’s Day
Dear Ladies,
Warm aviation greetings to you all on this special occasion, the International Women’s Day running under the theme: Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly Resolution A41-26 on the ICAO Gender Equality Programme seeks to promote the participation of women in the global aviation sector and urges States, regional and international aviation organizations, and the international aviation industry to demonstrate strong, determined leadership and commitment to advance women’s rights and participation. This is further buttressed by the call to strengthen gender equality through supporting policies, as well as the establishment and improvement of programmes and projects, to further women’s careers within the global aviation sector.
To date, the State through the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) nominated and appointed a Focal Point to ICAO, to advance gender equality and the promotion of women in aviation. This participation is supported through a CAAZ Gender committee which has also been set up to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, best practices, and inclusion of women across the hierarchy of the local aviation sector.
In line with the theme, the Authority is committed to investing in women through continuous development and advancement programs to technical and leadership roles.
