Frequently asked questions are enquires which most passenger ask before boarding a flight or travelling to an airport. If your question isn't answered here, feel free to contact us.

What is prohibited on board an aircraft?

  • Firearms of any type including replicas or toys
  • Explosives including fireworks, flares, toy gun caps
  • Gases including compressed gas cylinders, tear gas, mace, pepper sprays, household aerosols
  • Flammable materials including petrol, lighter fuel, paint, thinners, non-safety matches, fire lighters, flammable glue
  • Poisons including weed killers, pesticides, insecticides
  • Hoover Boards
  • Corrosive substances including batteries, mercury, drain cleaners
  • Other dangerous goods such as magnetised or radioactive material, toxic or infectious substances like laboratory diagnostic samples
  • Liquids, aerosols and gels in containers over 100ml are not allowed in hand baggage unless you are carrying duty free sealed in a tamper-evident security bag, liquid medicines or special dietary products, such as baby food.

What is the carry-on baggage allowance and check-in baggage allowance?

Economy class passengers are allowed one piece of hand-carry baggage weighing up to 7kg (16lbs). This bag's total length, width and height must measure no more than 115cm (46?).

Most economy passengers are permitted to check in up to 20kg of baggage. For baggage in excess of the allowed weight, passengers may choose to either pay an excess baggage charge, or air freight it to their destination as unaccompanied baggage.

NB: This varies from airline to airline and it is advisable to consult your airline before traveling.

Are airport tours available for schools?

Are there facilities for baggage wrapping items or bags prior to departure?

Yes there is a wrapping machine at the Departures Hall.
Services are offered by the National Handling Services and Excess Luggage at a fee.

Do your airports cater for disabled passengers and airport users?

CAAZ is committed to providing world-class facilities that meet the needs of all airport users. The disabled community forms an important part of that community and CAAZ has placed a strong focus on ensuring existing and new facilities within our airports meet the particular needs of disabled travellers and disabled airport users.

SECURITY SCREENING

All passengers and baggage are subject to security screening before boarding of their aircrafts. Depending on airline policy, some airlines will conduct a baggage identification process.

WI-FI AND INTERNET

Need to be connected while you're on the go? You can now browse and keep in touch via wireless broadband (Wi-Fi) using any of your enabled devices. Wi-Fi is available at the following international airports (Harare, JM Nkomo and Victoria Falls) throughout the terminal to help you stay in touch while you travel.

Wi-Fi is provided by Zimbabwe On Line (ZOL).

TRAVELLING WITH PETS

Most airlines now accept animals as accompanied baggage provided they are in a suitable container and have the relevant documentation.
